totally cute.
today is the first day of the month of may, according to the lunar calendar. Superstition has it that is you were to break anything on this day, you'd have a bad month. i broke something today. In fact, i broke 2 things. i made a 1 litre schott flask crack by 9 am. cos i hit it with another glass solution bottle while making media for the orshids. But luckily it was only a crack, so the contents was transferred to a new flask. the worker that keeps the lab clean was like saying in dialect,"luckliy its only a crack, if not, not so good."*shackes head* me -nods- The cleaners in the lab are more of workers than technicians. They don't have much education. In fact, little, or none at all. But their hearts are made of pure gold. very nice and simple people. They ride their bicycles from home to work and very seldom do they take a bus. They don't even own a bus card. I admire their simple lives.

Anyway, 2 articles i broke, did i not say? much later, there was a full fledge smash of the measuring cylinder. I don't know how i did it. Wait, maybe i do, it was my damned sleeve of my lab coat. SMASHED on the ground. Remember those aunties with pure gold hearts? they are extremely superstitious too. the auntie that said its ok just now? well, she ain't saying anything now... she was damn funny. she walked up to the calendar, double checking id its the first day of the month. haha she was like, "nevermind la, nevermind la" *sweeps away smashed glass*

oh well, meaning i would have a bad month ahead? after the month of june,it would be wha tthe chinese call, the seventh month. another taboo thing in chinese superstitiopn. But oh well, everyday's the same to me. i'm not that superstitious. i will be fine.
right?

So anyway, since it hte first day of the month on the chinese calendar, they are suppose to pray to the gods of divinity i think. actually i think they have to pray only to one god, the land god or something. tua peh kong They cooked up a feast up at the farmer's HQ, invites extended up to me but feeling all bashful and all, i declined. heex* but ended up gettting pulled to another feastingg by another lab auntie. She was like,"xiao mei, ai jiak mee hoon kueh bo?" trasnlated,"small girl, you wanna have some mee hoon kueh?" i tot mee hoon kueh was literally kUEH malay for cake, like pastry. next thing i knew, she held ont my arm and was pushed and pulled into the bacteriology lab adjacent to my lab. i was still like, hey wait, what is mee hoon keuh? and i was shoved yet again by this petite, naive gentle looking auntie into the lab. Inside. she once again shoveed me into the pantry and placed a bowl of mee hoon kueh onto my hands.
OH. MEE HOON KUEY... its the soup noodle thingy.. it looked rather unappealing, the soup was kinda like the decomposed milky bacteria in the lab and the noodle patches were squished. like eating dough itself..
But can you believe it, above all that, it was the most delicious bowl of Ban mian i have EVER eaten.
